STAR is over the hill

This July marks the 40th anniversary of our organization providing quality services to sexual assault survivors and their loved ones in the Greater Baton Rouge community. What began in 1975 as a small group of passionate community members that established the Rape Crisis Center as part of the 19th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, has grown into a thriving non-profit organization now known as STAR.

Since our inception, we have served thousands of survivors by offering a non-judgmental, confidential source of support to help them move past the trauma of sexual assault. Today, STAR’s services continue to expand as the community need grows. We now provide free and confidential advocacy, counseling, and legal services to individuals and families affected by sexual trauma, as well as education to youth and adults to prevent sexual violence in our community.
